When Dr. Müller cross-bred Riesling with Madeleine Royale he was trying to get a Riesling that would ripen reliably: little did he know he created a grape so delicious that it would go on to be the most cultivated in Germany in the 20th century, even surpassing the original Riesling!
Balanced towards fruit rather than structure, German Müller-Thurgau Style has aromas of sweet peaches, apples, and blossoms, and is soft and easy-drinking, with gentle minerality and the faintest hint of fresh ginger in the finish. Perfect to sip alone, it’s an excellent wine for vegetarian dishes or with stone fruit and soft cheeses.
