Helios Hops Pellets 1 oz

Helios Hops

Helios: a high‐alpha, dual‐purpose hop from the Hopsteiner breeding program, built for intensity and agronomic resilience. With strong bittering potential, it also offers aromatic notes of resin, spice, and floral elements. Its low cohumulone content helps give a smoother bitterness. A good hop when you want both firm bitterness and aromatic backup — especially in hop‐forward IPAs or any beer that can stand up to high alpha additions.

Helios Hops Overview

  • Flavors / Aromas: Resinous, spicy, floral, clean accents; some stone fruit undertones.
  • Primary Usage: Bittering & Aroma; boil additions + late boil / whirlpool for aroma, also works in dry hop in styles with higher hop loads.
  • Best Beer Styles: IPAs, Double IPAs, pale ales, hop‐forward lagers, experimental ales.
  • Similar Varieties: Other high‐alpha U.S. varieties with lower cohumulone like Apollo, Zeus, some C hops; possibly compare to some tough bittering hops that also yield aroma.

Background

Helios (HS15619) is a Hopsteiner variety developed for both strong bitterness and agronomic ease. It shows high alpha acid content, resistance to downy & powdery mildew, and strong field performance. Its low cohumulone makes its bitterness smoother while still assertive. /p>

Helios Hop Analysis

Alpha Acids ≈ 18.0 ‒ 21.0 %
Beta Acids ≈ 3.5 ‒ 4.5 %
Cohumulone (as % of α-acids) ≈ 26 ‒ 29 %
